When she was 18 years old at high school, bodyboarding in Japan was really popular. It was love at first sight for Ayako, who didn’t hesitated to buy her first board and hit the surf with her friend whenever she could. Even not having any skills or understanding of the ocean, it didn’t stop her from paddling out and attacking the waves. Still then, Ayako could only go to the beach on the weekends because she didn’t have a car. She would get up in the morning and hit the 4:30am train to go surfing. Nothing was a problem as long she was on the way to the surf.

At the same time she bought her first BB video, US girls, where she would spend hours learning from it.

After she graduated from high school, she bought a car with money she saved working hard hours. Life changed then for Ayako now being able to surf 3 times a week.Seems everything was following through the way she dreamed. At the same time she met a girl who lived closed to the beach; her new friend had a spare room and invited her to come live in her parent’s house. She is so thankful to her friend until today because since then she always lived by the ocean and because of it her surfing improved a lot.
